I’m trying to add the scratch volume name along with the server name here.

ScratchConfig.ConfigureScratchLocation = /vmfs/scratchvolumename/esxhostname

Have updated scratch location information in the value box. However, it is throwing an error like this “The Update option values operation failed error on vCenter 6.5”.

Later some time, I was able to determine the root cause of it. Because, I didn’t create the folders in the scratch volume on the datatore.

That is the reason, it is throwing an error.

Steps to create folders on a scratch volume or datastore :

Browse the datastore from the vCenter and click on “Create a new folder” option

It will ask you to provide the name of the server and give the name and click OK to crate a folder on the datastore.

That is it.

After creating the folder on the scratch volume or datastore, I’ve retried the below –

ScratchConfig.ConfigureScratchLocation = /vmfs/scratchvolumename/esxhostname

At this time it is successful.

This is how I found the root cause of the error “The Update option values operation failed error on vCenter 6.5
